The long-awaited construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is anticipated to create business opportunities worth at least Rs 1 lakh crore throughout India.
According to estimates by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Delhi alone can witness business worth Rs 20,000 crore out of this substantial amount.
The consecration ceremony at the Ram Mandir is set to happen on January 22, 2023. CAIT had previously projected that the construction would generate a business of Rs 50,000 crore throughout the country.
However, upon witnessing the immense interest and curiosity among people for the temple, the traders’ body has revised its projections upwards.
CAIT’s estimates are derived from feedback obtained from trade associations in 30 states, encompassing more than 7,500 cities and business centers.
A tremendous business opportunity will emerge from the expenditure on services and purchase of goods related to the temple construction and associated events.
Enthusiasm for Ram Mandir to Boost Economic Activities
Praveen Khandelwal, the National General Secretary of CAIT, expressed that the Ram Mandir holds great reverence and has sparked tremendous enthusiasm, which is expected to lead to a substantial increase in economic activities associated with it.
He stated, “Due to the religious sentiments of people, numerous new enterprises will arise around the existing economic ecosystem of the country.”
Expanding on the revised estimate of Rs 1 lakh crore business, Khandelwal mentioned, “Over 30,000 programs are being organized throughout India in relation to the construction of the Ram Mandir. These include processions, Ram Sabhas, scooter and car rallies, Ram Pad Yatras, Ram Kirtans etc.”
With the arrival of such events, there has been a rapid increase in the demand for products such as Ram Mandir flags, banners, caps, T-shirts, and printed kurtas in the market.
5 Crore Ram Temple Models Estimated to Be Sold
“The demand for models of the Ram Mandir has also increased significantly.” Approximately 5 crore models are expected to be sold nationwide, with small manufacturing units in different cities operating around the clock,” Khandelwal disclosed.
In addition, the CAIT official mentioned that bands that perform with dhols, tashas, nafiris, shehnais, and other traditional Indian instruments are highly in demand. Tabla makers are experiencing a surge in orders for processions and events.
Furthermore, there has been a significant surge in the demand for hoardings and other outdoor publicity material. Lighting solutions for pandals, rallies, processions etc. are also experiencing a significant increase.

Experts predict that the construction activity will create job opportunities for 2.5-3 lakh individuals daily until the temple is finished. A significant number of job opportunities would be available for skilled and semi-skilled workers from rural areas.
The activity is expected to have a positive impact on transportation, agriculture, dairy, and related sectors in the villages around Ayodhya. Their income levels are expected to be higher.
Tourism, Hospitality Sectors to See Major Gains
Once built, the Ram Mandir is expected to draw 20-30 million pilgrims annually. This will greatly enhance tourism and hospitality services in Ayodhya and the surrounding areas.
Massive investments are already in the pipeline in Uttar Pradesh to enhance infrastructure and amenities to accommodate the anticipated influx of devotees.
