The KP Group has given Suzlon Group (NSE: SUZLON) a new order to build a 193.2 MW wind power project in Gujarat. Suzlon Group is one of India’s top companies that works with green energy. The project will be a part of a hybrid wind-solar plant and will help the state use more green energy.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, spoke at the event and said, “This order shows that India Inc. is committed to building a sustainable future for the country.” It’s encouraging to see private companies lead the way in switching to clean energy, especially for small and medium-sized businesses that want to compete on a global scale.

The hybrid wind-solar project will be linked to the network of the state transmission company (STU). Suzlon will take care of the whole job, from supplying the wind turbines to installing them, commissioning them, and providing long-term O&M.

The 2.1 MW turbines use Suzlon’s own Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology, which is made to be very efficient and work with the power grid. In line with the goal of creating an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the nacelles and rotor blades are made in India.

Strategic Partnership for Increasing Green Energy Footprint

Both Suzlon and the KP Group have worked together in the past to set up wind energy projects. When asked about the new order, JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, said, “We are thrilled to receive a repeat order from The KP Group, which is one of India’s first renewable energy companies.” In the past 30 years, the KP Group has steadily added more green energy projects to its list.

Chalasani added, “As a leading player with nearly 15 GW of wind energy capacity, Suzlon is proud that esteemed customers like The KP Group continue to repose faith in our technological capabilities and end-to-end solutions.”

Dr. Farukbhai Patel, Chairman and MD of The KP Group, said, “This new project fits with our goal to realize India’s huge renewable energy potential.” Suzlon, a top solutions provider, is the perfect partner to help us quickly increase our use of clean energy in Gujarat and other states as well.

The KP Group: Three Decades of Championing Renewable Energy

The KP Group was founded in 1989 and was one of the first companies in India to work with green energy. The company does a lot of work in the transmission systems and wind and solar energy sectors.

Some of the major milestones of The KP Group include:

  • One of the first IPP wind power producers during early 1990s
  • Executed first wind project under REC mechanism in 2010
  • Forayed into solar power in 2010
  • First Indian renewable company to list on NSE Emerge platform in 2017
  • Currently owns operating portfolio of over 775 MW across 12 states

The KP Group’s main goal for more than 30 years has been to offer custom green energy solutions to utility, business, and industrial clients. Its new relationship with Suzlon shows that it is still committed to helping businesses and power users switch to green energy.
