Tata’s ‘SUV game changer’ launched! Harrier available at the price of Creta

Tata Motors has given a special gift to Indian car buyers as the festive season approaches, with the help of which even middle-class customers can now fulfill their dream of owning a big and premium SUV.

Now powerful SUV variants like Tata Harrier and Safari are available at a price of ₹19 lakh, which not only have looks and safety, but also have no shortage of features.

At the price at which customers look for mid-size SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Tata’s flagship cars can now be purchased in the same budget – that too without any major compromise.

The Adventure X variant of the Harrier starts at ₹19 lakh ex-showroom, which reaches around ₹22-23 lakh on-road. Talking about the design, its color is similar to the Camo Edition, which gives it a premium look.

Features like LED headlamps, 360° camera, ADAS feature with radar (by paying ₹35,000 extra in X Plus variant) and rear disc brake make it a complete package.

Although fog lamps and connected DRL are not provided, but in aspects like space, safety and road presence, this car gives tough competition to any mid-size SUV.

Features like 17-inch alloy wheels, rear wiper, defogger, parking sensors and Shark Fin antenna help make the car look premium.

The interior gets features like power adjustable seats, soft touch dashboard, brown-tone finish, 10-inch infotainment system, 360° camera, cruise control, electronic parking brake and cooled storage.

The seats are leatherite, and the whole car has a premium feel. 13 ADAS features, six airbags and a 5-star safety rating make it a family safe SUV.

A minor complaint is the auto-dimming IRVM, which is manually adjustable, and the lack of a front armrest. But when you get so many features at a low price, it’s easy to overlook these shortcomings.

Now if we talk about Safari, it is available for only ₹ 65,000 extra, and it gets a 7-seater setup.

The X Plus variant gets ADAS features along with practical features like LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and sliding second row.

The electrically adjustable driver seat gets three memory settings, and the new tan interior colour makes it even more attractive.

Safari also gets the same infotainment system, 360° camera, cruise control, and panoramic sunroof. The stitching and finishing of the dashboard is quite premium.

A sliding feature has also been added to manage space for the third row, but here too the front armrest is missing. Safari has additional features like Boss Mode which enhances the comfort of the rear passengers.

While the Harrier has a slightly sporty interior feel, the Safari’s interior feels more airy and open.

Looking at both the SUVs, it would not be wrong to say that Tata has understood the choice of Indian customers very well by offering vehicles with large size and great features at a low price.

If Tata had also given the option of petrol engine in these vehicles, it could have been more affordable and could have attracted a wider customer base.

But still, the existing diesel variants have emerged as a strong option in the segment. This festival season, Tata Harrier and Safari provide the perfect opportunity to balance both budget and desire.
